Kecskemét Master Classes 2007
Stockholm Singers was once again invited back to the Kodály-Institutet in Kecskemét to take part in Peter Erdei’s conducting Master Classes. These classes attract talented conductors from all over the world are Stockholm Singers are there to be a sympathetic and flexible instrument for their choral conducting. This is typically an intensive and challenging workshop at the highest level.
At the same time as the Kodály-Institutet Summer courses were taking place, an international concert series was organized. Stockholm Singers took part in two concerts, the first, their own – a blend of Swedish and International repertoire – the other a final graduation concert for those taking part in the Master Class.
During the Summer of 2006, Peter Erdei also organized a choral conducting Master Class in Dublin, in association with Dublin Master Classes, hosted at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Here, he required the services of Stockholm Singers as his instrument. We used this opportunity as a platform for a series of concerts in Ireland, including one in Drogheda in cooperation with the respected Irish composer, Michael Holohan.
The 2007 Master Class repertoire included Johann Hermann Scheins Israelbrünnlein and works by Zoltán Kodály for choir and organ. Our own concerts also included the following works:
